This is a proposal for a new house in South Roscommon. The brief was to design a compact four bedroom family home, including a playroom and an open plan kitchen and dining area.

The house divides into two wings -a living wing and a resting wing. The living wing has a generous open plan kitchen, dining, living area and takes full advantage of the surrounding countryside views and the south light. The resting wing comprises of four bedrooms and two bathrooms. The entrance is located between the two wings, there is also a bright but concealed play/study area in this space. The design is influenced by the surrounding old cottages and agricultural buildings while also introducing a zinc roof and bold lines of a contemporary nature.
