This is a proposal for a split-level, four bedroom, contemporary house that nestles into the sloping site taking advantage of the amazing south-facing views. The resting areas on the upper level are east facing, making the most of morning light. The lower level comprises of the kitchen, living, dining, office and play room, opening up to the south and west light and wonderful panoramic views. The formal entrance is on the upper level, allowing for a vaulted ceiling in the entrance hallway, while the informal entrance is located at the lower level. Materials are a very important part of the design proposal for this contemporary house. Local Roscommon limestone on the lower level grounds the building into its rural setting, while the natural slate skin wrapped around the upper level and roof emphasises the building form and adds texture.
